Came for an event and was looking forward to a good meal based on reviews. The appetizers were good. The wine was good. The entrees were mixed. A companion of ours got the prime beef loved it but the shrimp scampi was cold and the salmon was cooked so much it wouldn't even flake; it was hard as rock. The staff was awful. Our waiter was Royce and he didn't charge appetizers and then when he realized it never apologized AND charged the large group tip of 20% to both our meal and the appetizer tab. He never asked how the meal was and frankly seemed to care less. Won't be coming back.

We held our wedding reception at The Boar's Head and both food and service was fantastic! Karen, the manager, was tremendously helpful and went out of her way to make sure every detail was perfect. Thank you!

Not worth the price. Service was not good. Food was ok but nowhere near what we paid. It is a one and done for me

Ate here last yr on my visit and loved it. Fresh caught stuffed grouper was to die for. The server was very friendly. It's def a lil spendy but worth it. My fish was probably the best I ever had. Fresh and savory. And the desserts r amazing. The key lime pie was homemade delicious.

Been here about 15 minutes and so far the waitress seems very stressed. She acts as if she has no patience. It's our first time here so......first impressions are important. Not sure if we will be back regardless of the quality of the meal.

We had reservations at 7 PM. We were not seated until after 8:00 PM. We had 20+ people in our party and were served by only one waitress. Anyone with any experience or knowledge of the restaurant business knows that it takes more than one waitress to fully satisfy 20+ people in one group. The food was very good once it did arrive.

Best meal ive had in two years Along with the great service it was bliss And im on a diet Order the prime rib and buckle up for one of the best meals of your life.

Second best escargot I have ever bought! (Only one better is the Sunset Grill in Moab, Utah (of all places)) The medium rare prime rib was rare which made me ecstatic. I like it that way but am always afraid to order it for fear of what I would get. The dessert, chocolate mousse was wonderful The freshly baked bread was very good and I used it to get every tasty drop of the escargot butter, which was so wonderful. My son had the stuffed grouper and enjoyed it. But,I have no ideas how the rest of the party enjoyed their meals, I was in my own little heaven. Our waiter and buss staff could not have been better! Even though we were probably a challenging party with my 9-month-old grandson reaching for anything he could get his hands on. By the way. I think they seat families with children away from those without. What a great and clever idea that makes everybody's meals better including the parent and children. Bravo! Oh, yeah, did I mention that the escargot was to die for?

Wife and I decided to walk to this restaurant from our hotel on a recommendation from another hotel guest. Arrived there well before published closing hours. When we walked in we were told that they had closed because they were slow. Won't return. Run your published hours.

I have read the mixed reviews and I have to say I really enjoyed my meal here. The prime is great cooked right and salmon was also good. It's different than normal seafood places at the beach. Early bird specials at 14.99 are always good. The place is dated for sure but I'd rather sit there versus louder beach restaurants. By the way sweet potatoes are the best side not really sweet just good. Salad is spring mix not romaine it was ok not my fav though
(3)Mike C.
Food is overpriced and service for group was terrible. Prime rib was well portioned and the only thing that was cooked properly. The salmon, tuna and shrimp dishes we ordered were all over cooked. Don't waste your time here unless you have money to blow and are in the mood only for prime rib. Waiter only stopped by for drink refills once. Serves the food without utensils and messed up and mixed the charges on the checks. Staff should pay more attention to their guests for the prices they are charging.

When every other place in the area is very average at best, you don't have to be very good to be better. Boars Head is an example of this. The place is run down and in need of a remodel and repair. Many broken or heavily worn fixtures in the place and likely not going to be fixed any time soon. Went for the Christmas Day Brunch and it was clear that they were cleaning up since they were the only place open. Food was VERY unremarkable, if not pretty poor. But it's either that or the Waffle House. The buffet looked like it had been out for several hours only 45 minutes in to the service. Prime rib sliced SUPER thin, leg of lamb was dry, pea salad was grayish green. Squash casserole was overcooked. Worst was the razor thin slices of dessert. C'mon... for $28 per person, you'd think it would be better than a Golden Corral meal. It wasn't.

Best meal I had the entire week at the beach. Paneed grouper & white chocolate bread pudding plus their coffee is fabulous! My husband had the king crab legs & the service was fantastic!! Love, love, loved it!
(5)Shanon B.
I went here twice during my weeklong stay in Panama City Beach. The first time I had the Fried Seafood Platter, the oysters and shrimp were mouthwatering fresh. The grouper was over done, though. And the deviled crab was light on crab. The second visit was good too, I had the blackened grouper. It was fresh and seasoned well. Overall, it was good, not great! And the menu was a bit overpriced.

Great service and tasty food in a circa-70s setting. We picked this place because of the broad menu and ability to accept reservations for 11 of us on fairly short notice. The service was excellent, delivered by an experienced wait staff who brought everything at the right time, together, and correctly among our three family groups. Food was mostly great. Two of us had the lime char-grilled shrimp which was delicious. One of our party raved about the duck breast. Baby-back ribs were yummy and perfectly done, and came in a large portion. If you like cole slaw, do opt for their horseradish version. Avoid the green beans, which were overcooked. The young men in our group ordered steaks, all of which were flavorful and properly done. The young men also split the ridiculously HUGE piece of chocolate cake, which was more than enough to satisfy three athletic guys. We found the prices to be reasonable. The decor will make you think you took a trip back in time, but who cares?

This place has been around a long time, but kind of got stuck in the 80's. The way the servers are dressed, the menu , the decor, this is very much like places my parents to me in the 80's. The service was great, and the the meal was paced nicely. The Food was just average for me. I feel I should eat the food the way the the chef prepares it, so I never salt and pepper. I had to salt and pepper my prime rib because It was pretty bland. My wife had the stuffed grouper, it was pretty good. The make all the salad dressings themselves and the honey mustard poppy seed was interesting. They give you bread and butter, but I wasn't crazy about the bread. They have Guiness and Harp on tap, and they make a great black and tan. Overall, I enjoyed the nostalgia, but I wouldn't go back.

If I wrote this review last year it would have received on star higher. What happened? Boars Head used to be one of the highlights of my yearly beach trip to Florida. Kings cut of prime rib is the only thing that I have ever ordered from here. I want to thank Yelp for making me a super snob about rating restaurants. This place is old and in need of a serious rehab. Its really dingy and old looking. I notice that the service station is really beat up and depressing. Restaurants are able to get a pass on crappy decor and date furnishings only if the food is totally awesome. Unfortunately the food was such a let down this time. My prime rib was only barely adequate and it took FAR too long to receive our food. The restaurant was not even crowded. OMG it was awful. I really used to like this place but they let me down. I am going to cut this review short until next year.

I ate there last Friday night with a big group. The creamy horseradish coleslaw sounded different so I tried it - could not taste any horseradish and it was bland - no taste. I did like the mashed sweet potatoes and the prime rib. The Yorkshire pudding was very bland and not good at all.

We had a group of 8 and it has been our best meal since we got here. The steak, prime rib and pasta was delicious. The building was a different style but who cares, I not there to eat the building... the service was extremely awesome as well. The only grip would be that the salad dressing was a bit heavy but it was good tasting.

Just had the most amazing meal. Our server Patrick was wonderful, he was helpful on our choices initially and then throughout our meal was attentive and helpful. We started off with the bacon wrapped shrimp - totally awesome. We had the horseradish coleslaw as our salad, it was good but not enough horseradish for us. I then had the venison and quail and my friend the quail both were fabulous and presented in what we thought was an amusing manner. Well the quail looking like it was relaxing at the beach made us giggle. Garlic mash was chosen as a side and wow was it smooth and luxuriant. My friend chose the green beans they weren't good but no problem as Patrick changed it immediately for more mash and gave us a desert to make up for it. The chocolate cake that was chosen was immense. I really can't praise this place enough although I ended up drinking a very nice Pinot Grigio instead of the red I wanted as their choice was limited in the single glass section - 3 Cabernet for some reason and a cotes du Rhone none of which I'm partial to. Apart from that it was fantabulous!

Awesome food! The stuffed grouper is delicious! The prices are a bit high but the food is worth it.
(5)Bianca L.
Great prime rib...delicious drinks...and the best key lime pie I've ever had! Menu is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for! The decor, along with the tables and seating is in need of a update but overall the dining experience is good. Service is just OK...

After eating seafood all weak I was really ready for a steak. We decided to try this place out. Its located away from all of the conjestion so there was no wait. Server was very friendly but had a strong European accent so she was a little difficult to understand. Everyone enjoyed their food. My Prime Rib was great although a little pricey. Only complaints I have is they serve sauce in little plastic to go containers. Why no ceramic or stainless steel? This is not a sports bar. Also, and this may just be a pet peave of mine, but I like having a fresh glass of whatever i'm drinking brought out to the table when I need a refill. They carry around a pitcher and fill it at the table. Again, not what you would expect at an expensive establishment. I may return on another visit if I am in the mood for a steak but its definately not a staple location for me.

The decor and service is old-fashioned. I mean that in a good way. I felt like I had stepped back in time where meals were still leisurely and not rushed. Not to say our server wasn't attentive; she just knew how to space out service. It was crowded that night too so that takes skill. She was also very helpful with her suggestions. I had the seared tuna which was cooked perfectly and presented beautifully on the plate. My husband ordered the prime rib and I almost regretted not ordering that too. This place is a gem. Not good for a quick meal but, if you want a true dining experience, this is the place.

Dining here felt like I was sent on a time warp to my grandparents' favorite restaurant from 1975. The building, menu, and decor look straight out of the Carter era...many patrons looked like that as well. I would have had no objections if the food were executed well...sadly it wasn't. I should have known since the parking lot was almost deserted on the Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. The place was kind of depressing and clearly had seen better days...there were three or four large dining rooms sparsely populated by one or two parties each. The decor was strictly 70's "Medieval Times" with dark wood paneling and kitschy suits of armor. The food was prepared like it was still the 70's as well...wilted lettuce salads, soft bland white bread. Green beans were overcooked and combined with shredded carrots and peppers to a tasteless melange, just like grandma's. The "lobster" bisque was gluey and loaded with imitation lobster...there were just enough shells in it to make you think it had some lobster in it, but that illusion was shattered once you tasted the pasty concoction. What was notable was a statement in the menu regarding their prime rib...something to the effect that marbling meant the largest fattiest hunks of fat on the meat which is what they served...HUH????? Well, they weren't lying...their prime rib had huge hunks of fat on the periphery...unfortunately, there were no interfascicular flecks of fat, which is true marbling. Guys, learn what marbling actually means (or at least take it off the menu!). As a result, the meat was rather tough and dry, despite being served a perfect medium rare. The accompanying Yorkshire Pudding popover, another refugee from the 70's, had obviously been sitting out for quite a while, as it had toughened to a leathery finish by the time it was served. At least the old-fashioned chocolate mousse tasted OK. The service was alright...we mostly felt sorry for the staff becuase of how dead the place felt. On top of everything, the place is quite expensive...overall, one star for the food, and one star out of pity.

SPECIAL FILLET beef tenderloin fillets were so nice and tender. The sauce was delicious and they gave me plenty of it. My friends next to me kept doing their protein into my dish for the sauce and I don't blame them. DESSERT Incredibly decadent. The chocolate cake was so thick and pretty moist, but it was just too rich for me. The warm pecan cake was delicious and probably my favorite.

Great place for a quality meal in a beach community. On our visit we grew tired of the crowds, bar type food and just wanted to relax, this is the place. The decor is old and dark....don't be worried, it will make sense. The first thing you notice is every waitress is 30 plus years or older and experienced at their craft...in short the service was perfect, just the right level of attention. The food here is very good. The prime rib was prepared perfectly as was my wife's fillet. The quality of the food was not reflective in the price....we got out of there with a bill of only $104.00 and that included a bottle of wine and dessert. If you want a meal where you can sit and have a nice conversation and not have to yell come here.....remember it looks old and worn but when you come inside you'll be transported to a time where quality of food and service were the norm....

I have no problem spending $100+ on a meal for two, but for that I do expect better service / food / value than I can get at a restaurant that charges half that amount. Our server lacked any kind of personality whatsoever - this is the smallest issue we had, because at least he did his job (apart from refiling our drinks, which we had to ask for twice). The appetizer of stuffed mushrooms for $10 was 4 mushrooms. I wasn't expecting an entree sized portion, but to charge $10 for 4 mushrooms is just greedy. The quality of the prime rib was average at best. There was a lot of fat which was cut off, and given to our dogs, and there was a lot of tendon-veins running through the cut (See photo) showing it just wasn't a prime cut. I'll take a cheaper cut of beef, but I don't expect to pay prime cut prices for it. The condiments are all served in small disposable plastic tubs. I would expect this from a food truck on the side of the road, and it serves it purpose just fine. But when you are trying to be a nice restaurant, and you charge the prices you do then please don't serve your customers food in disposable plastic cups. It's dark. Not in a cosy, ambient way, but it created a more oppressive feeling, like they are skimping on the lights. Then there's the 6 or so flat screen tvs all showing sports. Are you a steakhouse, or a sorts bar? I think they need to decide on their identity, and who they are targeting, then adjust their prices / portion sizes / ambiance / level of service accordingly. I will not be back. I would not recommend this to anybody, there are other places you can spend this money and get better food and service. In fact there are other places you can spend less, and get better food and service.

Food was good enough but a little rough on the wallet. My husband and I like to try new places, so for our anniversary this year we decided to give Boar's Head a try after reading some pretty positive reviews. The atmosphere is a throw back to the 80's steak house and it seems classy but pretty relaxed at the same time with a tavern inside. Started out with a very yummy salad with the house poppy seed honey mustard dressing and MAN it was good, glad I didn't get the same ole' ranch. My hubby had the steak which was cooked as requested that had good flavor and I had the blackened Tilapia which was also very yummy along side the mashed sweet potatoes. Got the Derby pie for dessert but the chocolate cake looked delish as well as the chocolate mousse. All together $60 with tip. Could have been worse but could have been better as well.

A little old and dated restaurant. It's dark and the ambiance just isn't there. Service is decent, bartender was nice, and food was good. We came early so the early bird menu was available. Ordered a shrimp cocktail appetizer, pretty good. I ordered the crab and shrimp Greek salad. It's a big portion, very flavorful, with lots of seafood. My coworker ordered the tilapia and said it was pretty good. I don't know about paying full price later at night but I guess with the limited options in the area, you don't have much choice.

This restaurant is as good as it gets. I'm sure all of the wait staff is wonderful, but I can guarantee to excellent service if you are fortunate enough to have Tom as your server. The original purpose of our 500 mile trip to PCB with a group of approximately 15 people was to partake of the wonderfully rich Chocolate Cake at this fine establishment. We all had dinner here 2 nights in a row choosing a variety of dishes and not one person has a complaint. How many restaurants can you say that about? Of course we topped each meal off with a shared piece of chocolate cake - yes 1 piece is large enough to pass around the table several times. If you haven't tried it yet then you have no idea what you're missing. In reply to those complaining about the prices - it's not Captain D's. All of our food was seasoned & cooked to perfection. VERY SATISFIED CUSTOMERS. The only complaint we had was a large family group behind us with several small children (guess age range from 4 - 8) that they did not even try to discipline. This was not the restaurant's fault. These parents were so inconsiderate of other dinners - the parents deserved being punished more than the children. The children will behave or not according to what their parents expect of them and teach them. Apparently not much of anything with this group.

"I went here for the first time. My salad was drenched with dressing and I probably had a few pieces of lettuce on the plate, I felt like I was drinking dressing with every bite, it was disgusting !! Then my meal came and my $30.00 dinner was completely cold ! It looked like 3 little pieces of steak was just thrown on the plate. My friend ordered a martini , when he got it, it was only half way full. It then took 20 minutes to track down our waitress . Also, I got black beans and rice on the side , which was also COLD , when I told the waitress about it , she replied " let me nuke it in the Microwave real quick". VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ! I will not be going back!!

Excellent Service!! Fried lobster was amazing. We loved it :)

Ate here with the fam last week. Great service as usual, and the food was the best of any restaurant we tried in the PCB area. The chargrilled grouper was particularly delicious. The building is starting to deteriorate a bit (the booth seats in particular are just plain worn out) but the food is what will keep me coming back. Menu prices are a bit spendy, but I'm willing to pay more for a reliably good meal. I will be back again later this summer for more grouper and steak!

There are so few places in Panama City Beach that allow you to escape the perpetual "Look I'm on spring break!" spaz-athon. Tucked toward the end of the strip across the street from the beach, Boar's Head wafts elegantly in the direction of sophistication. I looked around the lobby for, but could not find, the rowdy under-agers in wife-beaters and flipflops. You just get so used to seeing them everywhere, it's quite notable when your venue omits them. While I disagree that white, cloth-covered tables are ideal (particularly for a pinot drinker that speaks with exaggerated hand gestures), they were mindful to seat us in our own little nook where a young couple could enjoy some privacy. The wait staff is earnestly attentive, and makes you feel like you want to invite them out afterward, create some memories, and become BFF's. Though I don't see it on their current menu, I cannot sing enough choruses of "thissteakisbetterthansex" regarding the New York Strip Steak Medallions. Ask for them, and then ask again. Your persistence will pay off. I offered money and various other tokens of worth (including my boyfriend) in exchange for the recipe, but there would be no sharing. This family-owned establishment holds dear their secrets (as I suppose every family should). I embarassingly salivate down my shirt at the idea of one day returning. Look for the glowing orange Boar's Head sign floating in the sky...

Ate here with the family because we couldn't decide if we wanted seafood or steak. We had "crab fingers" for appetizer. They were under seasoned. Our steaks were cooked perfectly but again it seemed like they put no seasoning not even salt and pepper. Prices and pretty high for what you get. I've had much better steaks for significantly lower prices. The filet is 8 oz and is forty dollars. I don't mind spending money on great food but this was pretty run of the mill.

Food was mediocre at best. Decor is total kitch. Prices were ridiculous. Don't waste your money.
